Sanitana is committed to sustainable development, a commitment that is embedded throughout the organisation and guided by its Environmental Policy and Environmental Management System (certified to the ISO 14001 standard since 2007). This commitment is supported by the implementation of objectives that make a tangible contribution to minimising environmental impacts. Reducing CO2 emissions is one of the key objectives on the path towards decarbonisation.
Recognising the importance of resource management, Sanitana applies the principles of circularity throughout its production processes, aiming to minimise the depletion of natural resources and the generation of waste.
As a manufacturer of bathroom solutions, Sanitana values the planet's resources and therefore develops sustainable technologies and products that promote water and energy savings in customers' daily routines.
Circular economy plays a key role in resource efficiency by making products more sustainable and extending their life cycle. At Sanitana, this commitment is brought to life through the Roca Group's Circularity Program, which is structured around five strategic areas supported by specific action plans:
➜ Eco-Design - Development of new products based on circularity principles and extended product lifespan;
➜ Materials – Reducing environmental impact by incorporating alternative raw materials or recycled components;
➜ Packaging – Increasing the recyclability of packaging and reducing the use of single-use plastics;
➜ Waste – Aiming for zero waste, ensuring all waste is either reused internally or reused in other industrial processes;
➜ End of Life – Extending product life by educating and supporting users in the correct disposal or recycling of products at the end of their life cycle;
Monitoring of resource consumption and maintenance of facilities and equipment.
Extending the useful life of cleaning water and reusing treated wastewater.
Use of treated wastewater for factory cleaning and glazing processes.
Reuse of glaze washing water through filtration and settling systems.
Conducting life cycle assessments to evaluate environmental impacts.
Development of products designed to reduce water consumption.
Incorporation of approximately 60% recycled materials into ceramic products.
99% of waste is sent for recycling, with all waste handled by licensed operators.
